Level 4 NVQ: Construction Site Safe Supervision
Following the success and launch of our full ‘Managing Safely’ NVQ level 6 GAP Course and our ‘Builder Manager’ H&S NVQ level 6 short course, we are pleased to announce the launch of our latest GAP course, ‘Supervising Safely’ which has been set at NVQ level 4 and also applies to OWS NVQ level 3.
Learning Strategy:
We have taken our company learning strategy of using mentoring as the key learning pedagogy. Following on from our ‘Managing Safely GAP Course’, we have re worked and edited that course material to authentically form the knowledge foundation of our supervisory course.
The reasons why:
The reason for this is that current H&S legislation applies equally, in accordance to job role and responsibility, to both a construction site manager and a construction site supervisor. The second valid reason is that it is often the case that a person will learn and perform better if they fully understand the reasons for what they are supposed to do!
Significant reasons for supervising correctly:
The three significant reasons why a supervisor must supervise correctly is first it is a legal requirement, and second, as you will see in the course, a supervisor is the motorway of communication to and from site personnel and operations to the central hub of site authority and communication, which is the role of the site manager. The third reason is that in fulfilling this communication role, a construction site supervisor maintains and completes a company’s H&S management system which aims to send all site attendees home at the end of the working day in the same healthy state they arrived.
